‘Repent!’- The moment this word is uttered, most of us might sense a negative feeling as though a bad word is spoken against us.

Well, what does it mean to ‘repent’?

‘Repent’ means taking a turn or an angle-shift that prevents one from destruction and leads one to life.

When a driver takes a wrong direction and if a passerby gives him the right direction, he becomes glad to know the right direction at least then before it was too late and he feels so grateful to the passerby for having him spared from wasting his time and fuel.

Well, it does not take much time to change the direction but it may take time to make the decision in your heart to change the direction and repent.

But what if this is the case when it comes to your spiritual journey?

Is your heart ready to take a shift? How many questions arise in your heart and mind trying to justify the path you are in and as a result, some have spent a lifetime to repent and some have even ended their journey in the wrong direction. This is the nature of a hard heart and a rebellious heart. For the bible says in Jeremiah 17:9

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

What should you do when you have a hard heart?

Carrying on with a hard heart is dangerous because a hard heart develops into a rebellious heart and then into a proud heart. Most of you would be familiar with the scripture that says, God opposes the proud and I am sure none of us would want to be that one.

A hard heart can be broken only in one place and it is the presence of the Lord. It is there where we become like HIM. There is nothing our GOD cannot do. If you are struggling with a hard heart, I want to encourage you not to take it lightly but go to GOD’s presence and let God deal with it. He will break you and make you as you surrender to HIIM. Remember when God breaks, He breaks it for your good just like He broke the five loaves in order to multiply it and make it a blessing to thousands.

May God break our hard hearts, help us repent where we need to and enable us to live the life in its abundance for the Glory of GOD.
